CCI

Established in 1972, CCI was the first in the country to bring services needed by struggling adolescents
directly into private homes. We were also the first to advocate and administer urinalysis testing to
young people suspected of drug usage (1974) and the first to introduce the concept of community service
as benefiting both the teen and the public (1976). CCI has published nationally (1978) and has been
recognized by the United States Department of Justice as an "exemplary agency" (1980).

CCI operates from a Youthwork model. Although well known in Europe, where it is a major course of study
at the university level with specific career ladders, Youthwork is not recognized in this country even though
research has confirmed that it is the most effective overall approach in working with young people. Youthwork
is the integration of everything that experience and research tells us is effective in reaching youth.
It's sort of like "whatever it takes for as long as it takes."

CCI's practice of Youthwork is a combination of the best therapeutic and restorative services available in
this area (based on our 30+ years of experience) and the discipline, accountability and consistency associated
with modern day juvenile justice concepts. Our staff of talented youthworkers is trained and supervised by a
Board Certified Clinical social worker who is the former Director of two Pennsylvania State institutions for
juvenile delinquents and has decades of hands-on experience dealing with the most difficult of juvenile cases.
And because in Youthwork intensity, passion, vision and creativity are at a premium, we have a limited intake
and keep tight control over the total number of kids and families that we serve.

Admission to CCI is usually through Court Order upon recommendation of the presiding Juvenile Probation Officer. However, individual arrangements can be made when special circumstances exist. CCI also is able to serve needy clients involved with county Children and Youth agencies in our three county area (Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton).
